Col Rajesh Tyagi, SM (Retd), Sena Medal joined the prestigious NDA, Pune in 1984.  After completion of training at the Academy and one year rigorous training at Indian Military Academy, he joined 4th Battalion, the JAT Regiment (Infantry).

He has been instructor at the JAT Regimental Centre where he trained recruits to become soldiers of Indian Army. He has also been an instructor at NDA, Pune where he trained cadets to become officers in the Indian Army, Air Force and Navy.

During his 34 year of service, he has served in variety of appointments in various terrains and operations to include operation in Srilanka, Nagaland, Manipur, Assam and J&K. He has also participated in Kargil war as part of 4 JAT. During the course of his service, he has been awarded various honours and decorations including Sena Medal in OP RHINO in Assam, GOC-in-C Central Command Commendation Cards (Twice), GOC-in-C Central Commendation card, C-in C Strategic Forces Command, Commendation card and Vice Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card.

On superannuation from Army, he joined the prestigious SubhartiDefence Academy, Meerut as Director with a singular aim to prepare young and dynamic aspirants to join the Indian Armed Forces concurrently pursuing their higher studies.
